The Middletown Church of the
Nazarene accepts as our fundamental task the proclamation of the Good News
of full salvation through Jesus Christ. We follow the doctrines, standards,
and polity as set forth in the Manual of the Church of the Nazarene.
In the context of our specific ministry setting, we accept these strategies
to fulfill our mission:
1. We will reach out to the lost and hurting of our communities, focusing on
Middletown, but including our surrounding towns and cities. Every activity
and program of the church is to be evaluated for its effectiveness in
promoting outreach.
2. We will conduct our services in such a way that Christ is lifted up
meaningfully through excellence in worship experience, music, and
Bible-centered preaching. We seek to balance an orderly style of worship
with freedom of expression through testimony and praise.
3. We will foster spiritual growth and discipleship through an emphasis on
biblical teaching, especially through the organization of a quality Sunday
School and Christian Education program.
4. We will build community through fellowship and care-giving ministries
which promote a consciousness of being a part of the family of God.
5. We will focus our ministries on meeting the needs of families by
developing effective programs for children, teens, and adults. Believing in
the importance of the family for our society and its future, we seek to
specialize our ministries to reach out with the healing grace of Christ to
hurting and broken families. We want to provide an environment where all
families can grow and be strengthened.
6. Since we believe in the possibilities of what God can do in and through
church, we will choose to allow ministry and growth to happen, even though
change and transition will continue to be a part of our experience. This
quality of faith requires obedience and sacrifice from all who identify with
our mission.
7. We will be involved in promoting the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout
the world, especially by supporting and participating in the ministries of
our denomination on the district, regional, international levels.
